Cubismo Grafico was born as Gakuji Matsuda in 1970 in Hiroshima, JAPAN.

Cubismo Grafico started as a DJ and percussion player for various bands 1990 after moving to Tokyo in 1990.
By now he is one of the most popular and highly respected producers and recording artists in Japan’s pop scene. Being a part of the Escalator DJ team and remixer for acts such as Pizzicato Five also helped him gain a remarkable popularity as a DJ world-wide.

His first appearance in Europe was on Bungalows concept compiltion album “Various Artists - Escalator Records, Tokyo” in early 2000 to which he contributed a few songs.
The same year Cubismo Grafico toured Europe together with Bungalow acts Le Hammond Inferno, The Maxwell Implosion and Stereo De Luxe and his Japanese labelmate Losfeld.

In 2001 Cubismo Grafico received the Japan Academy Award in the category best movie soundtrack for his work for the Japanese film “Waterboys”.
